Competency

A set of knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviours that an individual possesses and demonstrates to effectively perform their job are referred to as competency. It symbolizes the combination of skills and qualities needed to succeed in a particular position or field. Competencies can be behavioural or technical, and they encompass the personal qualities and technical expertise required for success in a particular job or profession.
The specific knowledge, abilities, and expertise associated with a specific occupation or job function are referred to as technical competencies. These abilities are ordinarily procured through schooling, preparing, and common-sense experience. Technical competencies can include software application proficiency, industry-specific knowledge, or the specialized skills necessary to carry out responsibilities.
Conduct abilities, then again, centre around the individual credits, mentalities, and ways of behaving that add to powerful work execution and collaboration with others. Communication skills, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, adaptability, leadership, and other qualities that support professional success and workplace collaboration are frequently associated with these competencies.
Recruitment, performance management, and employee development all rely heavily on competencies. They provide a framework for evaluating employee performance, need for training, and job candidates. Organizations can effectively manage talent and improve overall organizational performance by aligning job requirements with successful behaviours and skills by defining and evaluating competencies.
